Right now, 1.1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in six of us.

charity: water is a non profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. We give 100% of the money raised to direct project costs, funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need. Just $20 can give one person in a developing nation clean water for 20 years.

Founded 3 years ago by Scott Harrison, a 34 year old who gave up an extravagant lifestyle and grabbed a camera, charity: water has raised over 10 million dollars. Every penny goes to funding water projects. His photos have put a face on the world water crisis. One out of 6 people on the planet do not have access to clean, safe water. We’re going to change that. In our lifetime!

Scott Harrison said, “These people are very real, and they need our help. They didn’t choose to be born into a village where the only source of water is a polluted swamp. And I didn’t choose to be born in a country where even the homeless have access to clean water and a toilet. I invite you to put yourself in their shoes. Follow them on their daily journey. Carry 80 pounds of water in yellow fuel cans. Dig with their children in sand for water. Line up at a well and wait 8 hours for a turn. For about $20 a person we know how to help millions of people.”
